Overview
In late summer 2024, Senftenberg Fortress was dedicated to the 18th century for two days. Reenactment groups from Saxony, Brandenburg, and the Czech Republic set up their camps in the castle garden and on the bastion. Demonstrations began on Saturday morning — musket maintenance, cooking over a fire, blacksmith work at the historical market stall.
Highlights included the cannon demonstration on Saturday afternoon, the show formation with bayonet drill and line formation, and the courtly dances in the castle garden, in which brave visitors could participate themselves. On Sunday, the grand final battle reenactment took place — several cannon salutes, rifle volleys, and the traditional parade of the reenactment groups. Anyone who has seen the Fortress Spectacle once understands the historical authenticity that the format cultivates — and plans to attend the following year.
