Overview

The 2025 Festungsflimmern, like every summer, ran for about two weeks on the Neutorwiese at the foot of the Marienberg Fortress. On the inflatable big screen, the team showed more than 20 screenings with current film highlights and specials — complemented by a bar, Flammkuchen, and the illuminated fortress backdrop.

The 2025 edition of Festungsflimmern followed the established format: approximately two weeks of open-air cinema on the Neutorwiese beneath the Marienberg Fortress, featuring the inflatable big screen, around 1,000 seats (including 200 deckchairs), a bar, and a summer ambiance.

The program included current cinema highlights, festival films, and specials — a Würzburg summer ritual with a loyal regular audience. As always, the illumination of the Marienberg Fortress in the background was the festival's visual trademark. Tickets went on sale as usual in mid-May.
