Festival of the Roman Wine Route - Coronation of the Wine Royalty

The Festival of the Roman Wine Route in Schweich is considered one of the largest street wine festivals along the Middle Mosel. It takes place from May 9th to 11th, 2026, and brings together the wine communities of the "Römische Weinstraße" tourist association – Schweich, Riol, Longuich, Mehring, Klüsserath, Detzem, Pölich, Schleich, Thörnich, and Trittenheim – for a joint appearance over three days.

At the wine stands set up along the streets, vintners present their Mosel Rieslings, Burgundies, Elbling wines, and sparkling wines. This is complemented by culinary offerings from regional gastronomy – from bratwurst to seasonal specialties. Live music on several stages ensures a festive atmosphere.

The highlight is the Coronation of the Wine Queen and her Princesses on Saturday evening, May 9th, 2026, starting at 8:30 PM. The wine royalty of the Roman Wine Route will be the official ambassadors of the region for one year. They represent Mosel wine culture at trade fairs, events, and press trips at home and abroad. The coronation is a ceremonial act of historical and tourist significance – and a crowd-puller.

The organizer is the Tourist Information Roman Wine Route, located at Brückenstraße 46 in Schweich. The municipality of Schweich an der Römischen Weinstraße, with its location on the Middle Mosel between Trier and Bernkastel-Kues, is a central tourist destination in the region.
