Summer concert series in the courtyard of the Landesmuseum Mainz with Indie, Pop, Rock, Folk, Electro, and Hip-Hop
The Landesmuseum Mainz on Große Bleiche in the heart of the city center has an idyllic courtyard, shaded by old trees, which is rarely accessible to the public outside of the museum's own programming. In summer, the museum opens this courtyard for the concert series Fenster zum Hof Open Air, which has become a firm fixture in Mainz's event calendar in recent years.
The Mainz concert agency Musikmaschine, known for its keen sense for emerging and established Indie, Pop, and Folk acts, is responsible for programming and execution. The series is part of the Kultursommer Rheinland-Pfalz (Rhineland-Palatinate Summer of Culture) and is co-funded by the state.
The 2026 program spans twelve dates between late July and late August. The musical spectrum is deliberately broad – Indie, Pop, Rock, Folk, Electro, Hip-Hop, Singer-Songwriter, Chamber Music Pop – yet curated with a clear commitment to quality: bands and solo artists who impress with their craftsmanship, lyrics, and aesthetics.
Confirmed acts for 2026 include the German-language Indie Pop trio ok.danke.tschüss (July 25), Fortuna Ehrenfeld with their unique blend of Indie Pop and chamber orchestra sound (August 14), singer-songwriter DILLA (August 15), the Indie project orbit (August 21), and the third installment of the newcomer series NWIJ Vol.3 (August 22) featuring young acts from the German Indie scene.
The atmosphere of the courtyard – the cool evening air, the old walls of the Landesmuseum, the intimate capacity of a few hundred seats – lends a special quality to each concert. Those who have experienced a concert in this courtyard under the night sky of Mainz once, return regularly. Tickets sell out quickly.
The complete 2026 program will be announced in several stages by the organizer Musikmaschine. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: twelve individual concert evenings on a weekly basis, each with early evening admission, a support act, the main concert, and a relaxed conclusion in the courtyard until approx. 11 PM. The musical programming mixes established Indie acts with emerging newcomers, exemplified by the in-house series NWIJ.
The complete list of all 12 concerts between July 24 and August 23, 2026, will be communicated gradually by the organizer via fensterzumhof-openair-mainz.de. A total of seven additional concerts are planned beyond those listed.
