Carnival parade in the Trier district of Ruwer on Shrove Tuesday
Ruwer in eastern Trier is a small, rural wine and district community, giving its name to the Ruwertal region with its world-famous Riesling vineyards – such as the renowned Maximin Grünhaus vineyard. The Trier district parades are staggered throughout the carnival days, so after the main parades on Sunday (Pfalzel) and Monday (main parade + Ehrang), the Ruwer parade on Shrove Tuesday concludes the Trier carnival events.
Assembly takes place in Hermeskeiler Straße – the main traffic artery towards Hermeskeil and the Schwarzwälder Hochwald. The parade includes floats from Ruwer's carnival clubs, walking groups, school groups, and friendly clubs from the neighboring Ruwertal communities (Mertesdorf, Eitelsbach, Kasel, etc.). Afterwards, the carnival moves to Ruwer's clubhouses and inns for the traditional closing celebration.
The 2026 edition is the traditional carnival finale in eastern Trier. The exact order of parade numbers and the number of floats will be published by the Ruwer carnival clubs in February 2026.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in February. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
Assembly: Hermeskeiler Straße, Trier-Ruwer (54292) from approx. 1:30 PM.
Start: 2:11 PM.
Entry: Free.
Getting there: City bus from Trier-Mitte or regional train.
Traffic: Road closure along the parade route.
