Speyer Carnival Scene

Speyer boasts a diverse and vibrant carnival scene with several major clubs. The Speyerer Karneval-Gesellschaft (SKG) is the city's most traditional club, while CCS 2000, founded in 2000, is now also a significant player. Additionally, the Rheinfunken and Vereinsmeier clubs shape the scene. Throughout the season, the clubs each host their own Prunksitzungen, ladies' sessions, and parties.

Eight Dates Between Jan 24 and Feb 15, 2026

The 2026 season concentrates on eight major dates between January 24 and February 15. Smaller events in the city districts and the Rose Monday parade (Feb 16, see separate fiche) are also included. Most sessions traditionally start at 7:11 PM (the eleventh minute of the eleventh hour — a tradition of Rhenish and Palatinate carnival).

• Sat, Jan 31, 2026, 6:33 PM — CCS 2000 Prunksitzung at Stadthalle.
• Fri, Feb 6, 2026, 8:11 PM — SKG Men's Session at Stadthalle (sold out).
• Sat, Feb 7, 2026 — SKG Remmidemmi Party at Halle 101.
• Thu, Feb 12, 2026, 7:11 PM — SKG Ladies' Session at Stadthalle.
• Fri, Feb 13, 2026, 7:11 PM — Second SKG Ladies' Session at Stadthalle.
• Sun, Feb 15, 2026, 2:33 PM — SKG Children's Carnival on Rose Monday at Stadthalle (Note: Rose Monday 2026 is actually Feb 16).

Event Venues

The Speyerer Stadthalle on Obere Langgasse is the city's main event venue — it hosts the major SKG and CCS sessions. AV 03 Speyer is the hall of the Arbeiterverein 03, a traditional Speyer venue. The Mehrzweckhalle Speyer-Nord is located in the northern district. Halle 101 is an alternative event location with a club atmosphere, suitable for the SKG Remmidemmi Party.

Palatinate Carnival Tradition

Speyer's carnival is part of the southwestern German Fastnacht culture, which differs from the Rhenish carnival of Cologne. Palatinate sessions are often smaller, more intimate, and more focused on local customs, local jokes, and the Palatinate dialect. Palatinate guard dances, satirical speeches (Büttenreden), and dancing maids (Tanzmariechen) are characteristic.
