The Fairy Tale Christmas at Gottorf Castle will be held for the first time in 2026. Consequently, no edition took place on the castle island during the 2025 Advent season — it is a new creation by the organizer Markt Macher.
Before the Premiere
The Fairy Tale Christmas at Gottorf Castle is a new format. It did not take place in 2025 — the premiere is scheduled for the 2026 Advent season, on all four Advent weekends. In Schleswig, the 2025 Advent season was marked by traditional formats such as the Schleswig Christmas Market on Capitolplatz and smaller Advent markets in the Holm.
Those who visit the premiere in 2026 will experience the start of a new Schleswig-Holstein Christmas tradition — embedded in one of Northern Germany's most beautiful historic settings. The organizer Markt Macher specializes in historical Christmas productions.
