24th EWE Nordseelauf – Langeoog Island Stage as part of the 7-Island Stage Race
The EWE Nordseelauf is one of Germany's most original running formats. In seven stages, the competition takes participants across all seven East Frisian islands in one week. Each island has its own stage with a different course profile between beach, dunes, promenades, and the island village. With the 24th edition in 2026, the format looks back on a long tradition.
The Langeoog stage is expected to take place on June 24 or 25, 2026 – the exact date will be published by the organizer in advance. The course length is classically 10 kilometers and leads through the typical Langeoog landscape – island village, dune paths, possibly beach sections, and island roads. Those who complete the entire stage week will cover over 70 kilometers in total.
This year's motto “Don't stop – run against violence” gives the race an additional message. The run thus positions itself against gender-based and domestic violence and calls on runners to show visible solidarity. Fundraising and awareness campaigns will accompany the stages.
The seven islands will be covered in the following order:
Anyone who completes the full Nordseelauf experiences a week of sports and island tourism. Accommodation on changing islands, ferry crossings, catering, and route planning are elaborately organized. Individual stage starts are also possible for day participants – the Langeoog stage is thus a single running event for island guests or day visitors.
Access to Langeoog is by ferry from Bensersiel. The tides must be considered when changing islands – this is coordinated by the organizer within the stage concept.
