Overview

The European Film Market 2025 took place parallel to the 75th Berlinale. As in previous years, it featured a sales market, Investors Forum, EFM Startups, Series Market, and thematic program lines. Organizer: Internationale Filmfestspiele Berlin (Berlinale).

The 2025 edition continued the established format of the EFM. Industry professionals from around the world used the Berlinale week to trade film rights, initiate co-productions, and structure investments. The number of participants was around 12,000 – the 2026 edition will see a further increase of about 5%.

In terms of content, the 2025 edition built on the established program lines: main market at the Marriott, DocSalon and Archive Market, Berlinale Series Market, and conference program. The 2026 edition will place stronger emphasis on animation, XR, and the next generation with the new Animation Days, EFM Beyond, and Berlinale Film School Summit.
