Edition 2025 — Essener Lichtwochen

The 76th Essener Lichtwochen ran from October 2025 to early January 2026 following tradition: animated animal light sculptures, light arches over Kettwiger Straße, illuminated cultural landmarks. Opening with fireworks. For over two months, the city centre shone brightly — attracting hundreds of thousands of visitors from the region, the Netherlands, and Belgium. EMG remained the organiser.

76th edition, predecessor to the 77th edition in 2026/2027. Proven mix of large-format light sculptures, continuous street lighting, and the parallel International Christmas Market at Kennedyplatz. Successful season with high visitor frequency.

Programme

Permanent light operation with opening fireworks and parallel Christmas market.
