The second weekend of the Eselshautfest Mußbach continues the festival operations in the historic Herrenhof Mußbach from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th, 2026. As on the first weekend, the Mußbach vintners and associations open their serving points in the monument-protected building ensemble of the Herrenhof/Johannitergut.
While the festive opening with the village beadle parade and the donkey took place on the previous weekend, the second weekend is characterized by a somewhat more relaxed atmosphere. Palatinate festival connoisseurs often appreciate the second weekend for quieter tastings with the vintners.
A special connection is offered on July 10th, 2026: On this day, the Rolling Wine Tasting with the Kuckucksbähnel starts — a historic steam train with about 100-year-old wooden carriages, combining wine enjoyment with railway nostalgia. Departure from platform 5 of Neustadt Central Station, destination Elmstein in the Palatinate Forest. Those who combine both events can enhance the wine experience with an unusual mobility experience.
The oenological program remains unchanged: Trial wines from the State Winery/Johannitergut are again available for tasting, supplemented by the regular assortment of Mußbach vintners — Riesling from the famous Eselshaut vineyard, white and Grauburgunder, Spätburgunder, and Sekt.
The Palatinate Culinary Delights in the historic building ensemble — Saumagen, Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Flammkuchen, Quetschekuche — are served in a setting with a medieval flair. The Herrenhof itself, with roots in the 12th century and formerly the commandery of the Order of St. John, is a Palatinate cultural monument of high historical significance.

The second festival weekend of the Eselshautfest 2026 covers the three days from July 10th to 12th. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:

- Main visitor day on Saturday with full service in the Herrenhof
- Family-friendly Sunday with Frühschoppen and festival finale
The event is part of the rich Palatinate festival culture, which attracts thousands of guests to the Neustadt an der Weinstraße region every year.
