Grand harvest festival with a parade of around 40 wagons in the Bückeburg district of Cammer
Preparations for the harvest festival begin a week in advance with the communal binding of the harvest crown. On September 12th, 2026, the village youth and community will gather to weave the multi-meter-high crown from ears of grain, flowers, and ribbons. The binding is a tradition, community life, and preparation all in one – and the start of the first festival week.
On Friday evening, September 19th, the Cammer Party opens the festival weekend. The event in the large festival tent is one of the most exuberant dance evenings on the Schaumburg festival calendar. Live music or a DJ set ensure a full dance floor until late into the night. The format has established itself over the years as a trademark of the Erntefest Cammer.
On Saturday afternoon, the finished harvest crown will be ceremonially hung under the festival tent. Afterwards, the village youth will perform their traditional dances in classic costumes with practiced choreographies – a traditional element that has its firm place in many North German villages.
The highlight of the weekend is the grand parade on Sunday afternoon. Around 40 elaborately decorated wagons – works of art made of straw, wood, floral decorations, and thematic structures – will parade through Cammer with marching bands, farmer orchestras, and walking groups. In 2024, 43 wagons participated in the procession; the village expects a similar scale in 2026. Afterwards, the weekend concludes with a morning pint, a coffee reception, and dancing.
The Cammer Party on the festival Friday is known far beyond the village borders. With live music or a DJ set, the evening attracts dance enthusiasts from the entire Schaumburg region and forms one of the weekend's highlights – even before the actual parade.
Sunday afternoon brings the grand parade. Farmer orchestras, marching bands, tractor teams, and walking groups accompany the approximately 40 wagons through Cammer.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the Cammer village community in August/September. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
