About Erfurt Marathon
Marathon with a good cause
Since its first run in 2014, the Erfurt Marathon has been more than just a sporting event — it's a charity project: every kilometer run becomes a donation for the children's and youth protection program «HAUT-NAH», an initiative by the association MitMenschen e.V. The organizer is the association ANNAKRAM e.V. from Erfurt — the letters stand for Annette and Akram, the initiators' family.
Start at the Andreasried cycling track
The start and finish location is the Andreasried cycling track in the north of Erfurt — Thuringia's only active open cycling track. From the infield of the track, participants run out into the Gera-Aue, follow the river through the nature reserve, circle the Auernteich pond, and pass several city districts before returning to the cycling track.
Distances for every level
- Marathon — 42 km (officially 42.877 km), from 9:00 AM
- Half Marathon — 21 km (officially 20.397 km), started in parallel
- 2-person relay — Marathon distance divided
- 4-person relay — Marathon distance divided
More than just running
There is a supporting program around the run: live music at refreshment stations, a children's run for the youngest participants, club and sponsor stands at the cycling track, and a communal breakfast after the run. The family-friendly atmosphere — not a mass-marathon vibe like in Berlin, but an event in the format of a medium-sized city — is part of the program.

- Half Marathon 20.397 km — Course record limit 3 hours
- 2-person and 4-person relays — Changeover zone at the cycling track
- From approx. 11:30 AM — First half-marathon finishers
- From approx. 2:00 PM — Half-marathon award ceremony
- From approx. 2:30 PM — First marathon finishers
- From approx. 4:00 PM — Marathon award ceremony
Course
The course combines landscape and city running: from the infield of the cycling track out into the Gera-Aue, along the river, around the Auernteich pond, passing through several city districts, returning to the cycling track. Measurement and timing professionally handled by run-timing.de.

- 7:00–8:30 AM — Bib collection, warm-up
- 9:00 AM — Start Marathon, Half Marathon, Relays
- During the run — Live music at refreshment stations, stands at the cycling track

- All day — Family supporting program, club stands, catering at the cycling track

Getting there
By train to Erfurt Hauptbahnhof, then tram line 6 towards the north to the Radrennbahn stop (approx. 15 minutes). By car: Exit Erfurt-Mittelhausen or Erfurt-Bindersleben via the A71 / A4, then follow signs for Andreasried. Parking available at the cycling track.
