Dancing Under the Open Sky

Emden tanzt follows a simple and inviting concept: the Astrid Löschen Dance School, an established name for ballroom dancing in Emden, moves a dance evening outdoors. Instead of a closed dance hall, the Neuer Markt becomes the dance floor. Anyone who wishes to come is welcome – whether as an experienced dancing couple, a beginner with no experience, or simply as a spectator wanting to enjoy the atmosphere.

Program and Dance Styles

The dance program includes classic ballroom and Latin dances: Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Cha-Cha-Cha, Rumba, Jive. In between, popular disco classics and line dance sequences will also be played, which can be joined without prior knowledge. Dance instructors will provide short introductions and tips, so beginners can join in immediately.

Atmosphere and Audience

The event is aimed at all age groups, from young adults to seniors. The atmosphere is open, casual, and accessible. Seating areas at the edge of the dance floor allow for breaks and spectating. The event is part of the Emden Summer of Culture 2026 and complements the other open-air events of the summer.

Admission and Arrival

Admission is free, and registration is not required. The Neuer Markt is within walking distance of all city center areas. In case of very unfavorable weather, the event may be relocated or postponed; information will be available on the website emden-touristik.de and from the dance school.
