Overview

In 2025, the Kolping family Ruhpolding/St. Georg and the Protestant church community jointly invited to an ecumenical Midsummer or St. John's celebration for the first time. On a meadow opposite the Johanneskirche, a large campfire burned in beautiful summer weather, where people sang, made music, and danced until midnight.

The 2025 Midsummer Bonfire took place in what is known as 'Kaiserwetter' (emperor's weather). The pastor of the Protestant community and the chairman of the Kolping family welcomed the guests; the fire was blessed by the clergy of both denominations.

After dark, visitors gathered around the warming fire. There was singing, music, and folk dances around the fire. The celebration lasted until midnight; the Ruhpolding Volunteer Fire Brigade ensured fire safety and extinguished the embers at the end. The proceeds benefited the youth fire brigade.
