Kerwa in the Goldkronach Region
Dressendorf is a hamlet of the town Goldkronach in the Bayreuth district, located on the southwestern edge of the Fichtelgebirge mountains. The Kerwa – the Franconian term for Kirchweih (church consecration festival) – is the major social event of the small village and is organized by the Geselligkeitsverein Dressendorf (Contact: Stefan Rösler, Angerstraße 18, Goldkronach).
Festhalle as the Centerpiece
The festival takes place at and in the Festhalle Dressendorf. Live and brass band music, festival activities with drinks and culinary specialties, and convivial get-togethers ensure the typical Kerwa atmosphere. Admission is free – a village festival that thrives on community.
Human Foosball and Traditions
The Kerwa consistently sets special accents: In 2024, a human foosball tournament (live table football) was held for the first time, creating a much-noticed highlight that was reported by the Nordbayerischer Kurier. Such creative program items make the Dressendorfer Kerwa known beyond the village borders.
Goldkronach on the Fichtelgebirge
Goldkronach – once a mining town, today shaped by Alexander von Humboldt – is picturesquely situated on the edge of the Fichtelgebirge mountains in the Bayreuth district. The Dressendorfer Kerwa is one of the many village festivals that characterize social life in the districts and attracts visitors from the entire Goldkronach region.
