Three days of community festival in and around the multi-purpose hall
The Dorffest in Pirmasens-Gersbach is a classic community festival, as is celebrated in many places in the West Palatinate. Three days of festivities, supported by the local clubs, in the summer sun – that's the formula that has worked for years. The multi-purpose hall serves as the organizational and logistical center of the festival; the area in front offers additional space for outdoor catering, stage performances, and social gatherings.
The Gersbach clubs are a strength the district can rightly be proud of. Sports clubs, music clubs, country women's associations, the fire department, and other organizations participate in the Dorffest, taking care of catering, the program, and organization. This division of labor makes the festival possible and gives each club the opportunity to present itself to the public and improve its finances.
Classic festival cuisine characterizes the culinary program: schnitzel and fries, bratwurst and potato salad, ice cream and coffee, along with beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages. Individual stalls offer specialties from the respective clubs. The variety arises from the different participants, each bringing their own unique touch.
Over the three days, music and entertainment are on the program. Live music, DJ sets, performances by local artists – the mix varies depending on the day and concept. Experience shows that Saturday evening is the busiest time, while Sunday features a family-oriented program.
Even though the name Dorffest refers to the district's tradition, the audience has long since become city-wide. Residents from other Pirmasens districts, guests from the surrounding municipalities, and visitors from neighboring Saarland and Lorraine find their way to Gersbach.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept. The weekend combines the typical elements of a West Palatinate Dorffest — convivial festival evenings, a Sunday with a morning pint and family program, plus continuous catering and stage moments.
The exact program for 2026, including band performances, specialty food offerings, and the daily schedule, will be announced in advance by the Gersbach clubs.
Detailed program information will be communicated via ps-gersbach.de.
