Two-day family festival with fireworks at the House of Generations
Dreschvitz is a small municipality in the west of the island of Rügen, located between Bergen auf Rügen and the Ummanz peninsula, in the district of Vorpommern-Rügen (state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern). With fewer than 1,000 inhabitants, the village is one of the manageable villages in the region — and that's precisely why the annual Dorffest (village festival) is a central meeting point for residents, guests, and former Dreschvitz locals.
The venue is the village square at the House of Generations — a community meeting place where clubs, seniors, families, and children are active together. The village festival traditionally begins on the afternoon of the first day with an opening ceremony and stage program and continues into the late evening with fireworks.
The program combines tradition and family celebration: brass band for musical accompaniment, performances by the kindergarten and the school band, pony rides and face painting for the little ones, craft and face painting booths by DRK Rügen-Stralsund, regional gastronomy. The day concludes with fireworks over the village square — the visual highlight of the festival.
The 2026 edition follows the established program structure. On Saturday, September 12, the festival begins in the early afternoon from 1:30 PM on the village square with the festival opening. During the afternoon, the brass band, the Dreschvitz kindergarten, and the school band will perform on stage.
In parallel, pony rides, face painting, and the craft and face painting booths of DRK Rügen-Stralsund will open. Regional gastronomy will provide refreshments — sausages, cakes, drinks. The day concludes with fireworks late in the evening. Sunday will feature a quieter family program. Event partners: Municipality of Dreschvitz, House of Generations, and DRK Rügen-Stralsund.
