Dorffest Altbach — 52nd Edition of the AGAV Tradition

In July 2026, the Working Group of Altbach Associations (AGAV) is organizing its 52nd village festival on the community's central market square. Since 1974, the festival has been a firm fixture in Altbach's summer calendar and one of the most important meeting points for residents and guests from the Middle Neckar Valley.

AGAV — the Association Community Since 1964

The Working Group of Altbach Associations was founded back in 1964 and today brings together over 20 local associations — from sports and music clubs to the fire department, DRK (German Red Cross), and church communities, as well as hobby and cultural clubs. This broad base of support makes the village festival a true community experience: volunteers from different associations staff each stand, making both the culinary specialties and the atmosphere particularly diverse.

Program — Flea Market, Catering, Children's Fun

The village festival typically runs from Friday to Sunday. Highlights include:

• Large flea market on Saturday and Sunday in the surrounding streets — one of the largest flea markets in the Esslingen district
• Catering by the associations, each with its own specialty — from Greek souvlaki and Swabian Maultaschen to bratwurst and vegetarian options
• Children's carousel, swing boat, and other rides for the youngest visitors
• Association lottery with attractive prizes
• Stage program with live music, dance groups, and performances by the Altbach associations

Altbach in the Esslingen District

With around 5,700 inhabitants, Altbach is located in the Esslingen district directly on the Neckar river, between Esslingen am Neckar and Plochingen. The community is part of the Stuttgart region and belongs to the densely populated Middle Neckar area — short distances to Stuttgart, Esslingen, and the Filstal valley make the town attractive. Despite its location in the metropolitan region, Altbach has retained its village character — the annual village festival is an expression of this self-image.

Previous Edition — 51st Village Festival 2025

The 51st village festival took place from July 18 to 20, 2025, and attracted thousands of visitors from the entire region. The 52nd edition in 2026 follows the same tradition in July — the exact date will be published on agav-altbach.de and in the event calendar of the municipality of Altbach.
