Overview

The Donaueschingen Fasnet 2025 took place in the usual three-pillar format with the Guild Ball, Fun Music Evening, and Grand City Parade on Shrove Sunday. The Narrenzunft Frohsinn and its costumed groups once again upheld the Swabian-Alemannic mask tradition; friendly guilds from the entire Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis district participated in the parade.

Fasnet Tradition in the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis

For decades, the Donaueschingen Fasnet has been one of the central events of the Southern German Fasnet season. The Narrenzunft Frohsinn meticulously preserves Swabian-Alemannic customs — carved wooden masks, traditional costumes (Häs), and figure traditions passed down through generations.

In 2025, the city parade on Shrove Sunday once again drew thousands of spectators to the city center. The mix of traditional costumed groups, 'Gaudimusiken', and floats is a hallmark of the Donaueschingen Fasnet and clearly distinguishes it from the Rhineland-style Karneval of North Rhine-Westphalia. This tradition continues in 2026.
