Dammheim Wine Festival

Dammheim District

Dammheim is one of the eight districts of Landau in der Pfalz and is located in the northeast of the city. With its quiet village character, its nestled location between fields, and its proximity to the Queich river, the district has preserved its rural charm. The annual wine festival is organized by the Dammheim Cultural Association (Kulturverein Dammheim e.V.).

Festival Grounds at the Gymnasium

The festival grounds extend around the local gymnasium, which serves as a refuge in case of bad weather. In good weather, most of the action takes place outdoors on the adjacent festival area – with wine stands, food stalls, seating, and a stage for live performances.

Three Festival Days in Mid-August

The Kerwe traditionally runs from Friday to Sunday in the middle of August. Opening on Friday at 6 PM with the tapping of the first keg and greetings from the association's representatives. Throughout the weekend, wine service, Palatinate cuisine (Saumagen, Spießbraten, Flammkuchen), live music, and family activities alternate.

Organized by Dammheim Cultural Association

Unlike some other Landau district Kerwen, in Dammheim, a single association – the Dammheim Cultural Association (Kulturverein Dammheim e.V.) – bears the main organizational burden. This results in a comparatively homogeneous festival profile with a clear cultural focus.

Embedded in the Kerwe Season

The Dammheimer Weinkerwe takes place concurrently with the Godramstein Wine Festival in mid-August. Both are part of the dense series of district festivals that run from the end of June to the end of September.
