Dalsheim as a district of Flörsheim-Dalsheim

Flörsheim-Dalsheim is a double municipality in the Alzey-Worms district, in southern Wonnegau. The two districts, Flörsheim and Dalsheim, have each preserved their own history and festival culture. Dalsheim, the southern district, is a classic Rheinhessen wine village with a historic center, several wineries, and active club life. Its location in the rolling hills of Wonnegau, surrounded by vineyards, makes Dalsheim one of the picturesque places in the region.

The Four-Year Rotation

A special feature of Dalsheim is the festival rotation organized every four years: three out of four years, the classic Kerwe takes place, and in the fourth year, the larger Fleckenmauerfest – a historical festival that focuses on the old village walls of the settlement's fortifications and requires more effort. This rotation gives the clubs the opportunity to save energy and make the Fleckenmauerfest particularly elaborate every fourth year. 2026 is a Kerwe year; the next Fleckenmauerfest is scheduled for 2028.

IG Dalsheimer Kerwe – Fire Department and Sports Club

The organization of the Kerwe is handled by the interest group (IG) Dalsheimer Kerwe, where the volunteer fire department and the sports club work together. This constellation is common in Rheinhessen: the fire department brings organizational strength and experience with large events, while the sports club provides the member base and catering expertise. Together, the two clubs organize the Kerwe, from stand organization and safety planning to culinary services.

Festival Culture and Atmosphere

The Dalsheimer Kerwe is deliberately kept village-like and casual. Instead of large festival tents and concert stages, there is a manageable festival operation in the village center, regional wines, hearty cuisine, and a friendly community between locals and guests. In 2025, the Kerwe took place from September 13th to 14th; a similar mid-September weekend is expected for 2026.
