Free after-work culture format in Brühler Garten — every second Tuesday of the summer months
«Creme Brühlee» is one of Erfurt's most charming summer formats. The concept is simple: on five Tuesday evenings between May and September, the Brühler Garten in Brühlervorstadt opens its meadow for music, variety acts, and children's programs. Starting at 5 PM each time — right after work, school, and kindergarten. Free admission. Picnic blankets welcome, bringing your own refreshments is explicitly encouraged.
The Brühler Garten is a historic city garden in Brühlervorstadt — a district west of Erfurt's Old Town with Wilhelminian-era buildings, cafés, and small shops. The garden itself offers meadows, old trees, shade, and enough space for several hundred picnickers. Its location between residential areas and the city makes the format a neighborhood event with a city-wide appeal.
The City of Erfurt has officially confirmed the 2026 program. The series kicks off on Tuesday, May 12, 2026, with Mathi — the children's songwriter. This is followed on June 9 by «Kabelkrawall» from Theater Erfurt, on July 14 by participatory theater Tut's Erfurt, and on August 11 and September 8, each with another program item from music, variety acts, or children's culture. The selection reflects the accessible profile: programs that appeal to multiple generations simultaneously without excluding anyone.
«Creme Brühlee» is an example of Erfurt's urban cultural policy: accessible, free, in public spaces. In the state of Thuringia (District: Independent city of Erfurt), the format complements a cultural landscape ranging from Theater Erfurt and the Kunstmuseum to the Klassik-Sommer. The name «Creme Brühlee» — a playful allusion to Crème brûlée and the Brühlervorstadt district — shows: Erfurt's residents take their culture seriously, but don't take themselves too seriously.
The 2026 season is the now well-established continuation of Erfurt's successful cultural format. Every second Tuesday of the summer months, the Brühler Garten comes alive with a convivial picnic gathering featuring live performances. The City of Erfurt and the participating cultural organizers have officially confirmed the five dates for 2026.
The mix of a children's songwriter (May), theater (June and July), and other acts (August and September) makes the format equally attractive to families, professionals after work, and students. Depending on the weather, several hundred visitors are expected on the park meadow for each event.
