In the run-up to the 900th anniversary, the municipality of Leuchtenberg prepared the grand castle festival of 2026 in 2025. Events continued to take place regularly at Leuchtenberg Castle, including castle festivals by the Landestheater Oberpfalz.

The castle festival for the 900th anniversary is a unique commemorative event for the year 2026. In 2025, the focus was on planning the grand festival and an accompanying theater project: the Landestheater Oberpfalz announced "Des Kaisers Pfennigfuchser," a historical play about the history of Leuchtenberg Castle.

Leuchtenberg Castle remained a vibrant event venue in the northern Oberpfalz in 2025, with castle festivals and cultural programs attracting visitors to the Neustadt an der Waldnaab district throughout the year.
