Overview
Premiere Edition 2025 — Rebirth of a District Festival
After six years without a district festival, the Bunter Sommer Neustadt took place for the first time in 2025 at Martin-Luther-Platz — a successor to the legendary Bunte Republik Neustadt (BRN), which was the district's annual major event between 1990 and 2019. Synthēse e.V. deliberately conceived the festival differently: smaller, more neighborly, non-commercial, supported by residents and local initiatives.
The premiere was met with positive feedback: thousands of visitors, a quieter character than the BRN, lively backyard program points, local gastronomy instead of mass stalls. Synthēse e.V. subsequently announced its continuation in 2026.
