Three Days at Hermannsplatz

When the Musikverein Murr e.V. invites you to the Brückenfest, the whole village is invited – and with it, the neighboring communities from the Murrtal valley. The venue is the Hermannsplatz in the center of Murr, which is transformed into a festival mile with a festival tent, stage, and catering stands for three days. The festival follows the classic Swabian community festival choreography: Friday evening festival kickoff, Saturday grand festival evening, Sunday morning pint and family program – tried and tested, but never boring.

Brass Music from the Murrtal Valley

The musical centerpiece is the Musikverein Murr e.V. with its main band and youth band. In addition, friendly ensembles from the region perform on all three days – the Murrtal valley and the Ludwigsburg district are densely populated with brass music clubs, making the Brückenfest also a small brass music festival. On Sunday morning, the traditional Frühschoppen (morning pint) with classic Swabian march music kicks off the day. The program alternates between classical marches, Bohemian-Moravian brass music, and modern pieces – depending on the performing ensemble.

Swabian Cuisine and Hospitality

Culinary-wise, the Brückenfest offers what a good community festival promises: roast pork, Maultaschen (Swabian dumplings), bratwurst, fries for the kids, along with Swabian beer (often from the region around Marbach) and wine from the nearby Württemberg wine-growing region. The club members themselves handle the catering, and the proceeds go directly to club and youth work. So, by visiting the Brückenfest, you directly support the music club's activities in one of the district's most beautiful villages.

Murr — Village by the River

Murr is a municipality in the Ludwigsburg district in Baden-Württemberg, located immediately north of Marbach am Neckar. The village bears the name of its river – the Murr is a 53 km long tributary of the Neckar, which flows into the larger river here. With around 6,700 inhabitants, Murr is a typical Württemberg village: vineyards on the slopes, a medieval village center, a vibrant club scene. The Brückenfest owes its name to the bridge over the Murr, which has connected the village with the surrounding area for centuries. Visitors here should also take a trip to the Schillerhaus in Marbach (3 km away, birthplace of Friedrich Schiller).
