Literary weekend with contemporary authors at various locations in Braunschweig
The Braunschweig Literary Days are part of a diverse literary scene in Braunschweig: alongside the renowned Crime Festival in autumn and the Spring Reading in spring, the Literary Days offer an independent format that focuses on contemporary novels, short stories, essays, and poetry collections, often recently published.
Authors from all over the German-speaking world are invited, as well as international voices in translation. The spectrum ranges from established names to young debut authors. The focus is on the conversation between author and audience: after the readings, there is time for questions, discussions, and personal encounters.
Throughout the Literary Days, a wide variety of city locations are used: bookstores (including Graff), libraries, the State Theatre, cultural centers like Westand, as well as cafés and bars in the city center and the surrounding districts. This variety of locations allows each reading to be staged in the appropriate atmosphere.
Some of the events are free of charge, while others are offered at moderate admission prices. The Literary Days aim to lower barriers and introduce people who do not regularly buy books to contemporary literature.
The 2026 edition will take place on Saturday, November 7, 2026. Readings will be spread throughout the day across several venues in the city center and in individual districts.
The series is organized in cooperation between the City of Braunschweig and bookstores, libraries, and cultural partners. The exact lineup will be published in the weeks leading up to the event.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in autumn. The structure follows the established cornerstones of the Literary Days:
Various locations in Braunschweig: bookstores, libraries, cultural centers, cafés. Exact addresses depend on the event.
City center venues are easily accessible by public transport; from the main train station, take a tram/bus or walk.
Tickets available at the respective venues and possibly via Reservix. Admission is partly free.
The program is communicated via the Braunschweig city tourism website and partner venues.
