Luisenplatz — Festival Grounds at the Brandenburg Gate
Luisenplatz, located directly by Potsdam's Brandenburg Gate and Brandenburg Street, is one of the central squares in Brandenburg's state capital. From July 17th to 19th, 2026, it will serve as the festival grounds for the Brandenburger Bierfest — an event that has brought together the diversity of Brandenburg's brewing landscape for years.
Brandenburg Breweries in Focus
The festival's programmatically focuses on Brandenburg beer: from the traditional Pilsner of older family breweries to classic Helles and Wheat beers, and even craft beer varieties from the younger generation. The festival is integrated into the Brandenburg Beer Route network and cooperates with the association for the promotion of small breweries. Tasting is done in 0.1 to 0.3-liter glasses; larger quantities are available after sampling.
pro agro Regional Market at Brandenburg Gate Square
Parallel to the Beerfest, the pro-agro Regional Market will take place on Brandenburg Gate Square — open on Friday, July 17th (3:00 PM–8:00 PM) and Saturday, July 18th (10:00 AM–8:00 PM). pro agro is the association for the promotion of rural areas in Brandenburg and brings together regional food producers, direct marketers, and tourism providers. Offerings range from honey and cheese from Spreewald to sausages from Uckermark and spirits from the Mark Brandenburg.
Family Program on Saturday
While the main audience comes on Friday and Saturday evenings for the beer offerings, Saturday is deliberately family-oriented. Face painting, interactive shows, crafts, and a stage program specifically tailored for younger guests make the Beerfest accessible to families as well. Live music alternates between stage performances and background music in a festival tent atmosphere.
Potsdam, Brandenburg, and the State Capital
Potsdam — with around 184,000 inhabitants, Brandenburg's largest city — has always seen itself as the cultural and tourist center of the state. Luisenplatz, integrated into the UNESCO World Heritage city with the Sanssouci Palace and New Garden parks, is the starting point for many festivals and markets throughout the year. The Brandenburger Bierfest adds an explicit homage to Brandenburg's brewing craft to this series.
