Overview
The 2025 Brahms Festival once again dedicated itself to the close connection between Brahms and Meiningen. Concerts at the State Theatre, chamber music in Elisabethenburg and Altenstein Palaces, and the Brahms Monument Commemoration Ceremony combined symphonic music, Lieder, and hiking culture. The Meiningen Court Orchestra and renowned soloists interpreted a focused Brahms programme, complemented by works from his contemporaries. The Brahms Hiking Trail between Meiningen and Bad Liebenstein connected music and landscape, as Brahms himself appreciated.
Brahms Festival 2025
The 2025 edition continued the festival's tradition: concerts at Meiningen State Theatre, chamber music at Elisabethenburg Palace and Altenstein Palace, a piano recital at Palais Weimar in Bad Liebenstein, and the Brahms Monument Commemoration Ceremony in the palace park. The Meiningen Court Orchestra, as the resident ensemble, and international soloists shaped the programme. The Brahms Hiking Trail between Meiningen and Bad Liebenstein connected music and landscape — just as Brahms himself enjoyed.
