Grand Kirchberg Town Festival with Traditional Oldtimer Meet Kirchberg Classics and over 700 historic vehicles
The Borbergfest with Kirchberg Classics is the grand summer town festival of the Hunsrück town of Kirchberg, combining a classic folk festival, family day, and the renowned Kirchberg Classics oldtimer meet. From June 12th to 14th, 2026, the festival grounds will transform into a vibrant meeting point for vehicle enthusiasts and festival-goers.
On Saturday, starting at 8 AM, over 700 historic mopeds, motorcycles, and cars will gather on the festival grounds — one of the largest oldtimer meets in the Hunsrück region. Sunday is Family Day with an extensive stage program and activities for children. Festival tents, food stalls, and live music will ensure a lively atmosphere over the three festival days.
The Borbergfest is the traditional summer town festival of the Hunsrück town of Kirchberg, held annually from early to mid-June. Its name derives from the Borberg, a hill on the edge of Kirchberg's old town, near which the festival grounds are located. For decades, the Borbergfest has been the social highlight of the year in the Kirchberg administrative district, combining a classic folk festival with the renowned Kirchberg Classics oldtimer meet.
The Kirchberg Classics has developed over the years into one of the largest oldtimer meets in the Hunsrück. On Saturday, June 13th, 2026, starting at 8 AM, over 700 historic vehicles will gather on the festival grounds — a remarkable density for a small town. The selection ranges from pre-war classics and 'Wirtschaftswunder' icons to youngtimers from the 1980s and 1990s. Historic mopeds and motorcycles also form a focal point, distinguishing the event from many other oldtimer meets.
Among the highlights of the moped scene are models from East German brands Simson and MZ, West German classics like NSU and Zündapp, as well as Italian mopeds from brands like Vespa and Piaggio. For motorcycles, the spectrum ranges from BMW R models to Triumph and Norton, as well as Japanese classics like Honda CB and Kawasaki Z. The mix of two- and four-wheeled classics makes the meet interesting for enthusiasts of all categories.
The oldtimer meet on Saturday is accompanied by festival ground entertainment with a stage program, food stalls, live music, and children's activities. In the festival tent, evening dance events with regional bands take place; the program typically ranges from rock and pop to Rhenish dialect music and Hunsrück folk.
Sunday, June 14th, 2026, is the traditional Family Day. The program focuses on family activities: children's stage program, hands-on activities, play areas, parent-child activities, a morning pint with regional clubs, and an afternoon family coffee. Clubs from the Hunsrück region — sports, music, fire brigade, church communities — also contribute with their own programs.
From Friday, June 12th, to Sunday, June 14th, 2026, Kirchberg celebrates its Borbergfest with Kirchberg Classics. On Saturday, the grand oldtimer meet transforms the festival grounds into an open-air exhibition with over 700 historic mopeds, motorcycles, and cars. A festival tent, live music, and food stalls accompany the three festival days. Sunday is Family Day with an extensive program for the youngest visitors.
The 2026 edition of the Borbergfest continues the decades-long tradition of Kirchberg's summer town festival. The Kirchberg Classics on Saturday, with over 700 registered historic vehicles, form a special highlight and are among the largest oldtimer meets in the Hunsrück.
The festival tent offers evening dance events with live music from regional bands. Sunday, as Family Day, features a packed program for children and families. Clubs from the Kirchberg administrative district contribute to the program with their own presentations and stands.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in spring/summer. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years:
