Spring festival with flea market along the 2.5 km long daffodil promenade by the canal in Friedrichsdorf-Langendorf
The Oste-Hamme Canal in the Gnarrenburg district of Friedrichsdorf-Langendorf is one of Lower Saxony's most beautiful waterways. A promenade stretches for over 2.5 kilometers, with thousands of daffodils blooming on its banks in spring. This natural spectacle forms the unique backdrop for the Blossom Festival, which the municipality of Gnarrenburg has organized annually at the beginning of April for almost three decades.
Along the promenade, flea market stalls offer private bric-a-brac, vintage fashion, old books, tools, and collectibles. Artisans offer jewelry, ceramics, woodwork, felt products, and spring decorations. Garden centers and hobby growers sell early bloomers, perennials, herbs, and vegetable seedlings. Beekeepers and small manufacturers complement the offerings with honey, jam, and liqueurs.
Several snack stands, cafés, and club restaurants provide visitors with coffee, cake, bratwurst, crêpes, ice cream, and spring specialties. Beer, wine, and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. The choice to picnic by the water in the sunshine or linger at standing beer tables shapes the relaxed spring atmosphere.
Since the promenade is located in Friedrichsdorf-Langendorf and parking spaces directly on-site are limited, the municipality of Gnarrenburg organizes a free shuttle from the REWE parking lot at Hindenburgstraße 4 in Gnarrenburg to the promenade. The shuttle runs at regular intervals during market opening hours and relieves residents of parking traffic.
For many residents of the Teufelsmoor and the surrounding regions, the Blossom Festival is the social start of spring. When the daffodils bloom, the warm season begins — and the Blossom Festival symbolically marks this transition. Thousands of visitors from Bremen, Bremerhaven, Stade, and the entire Elbe-Weser triangle use the Sunday for a spring outing.
From 11 AM until early evening, thousands of visitors take the opportunity to experience the daffodil promenade, stroll through the flea market, and relax by the water.
The free shuttle from the REWE parking lot in Gnarrenburg ensures relaxed arrival and relieves the district of parking traffic.
The exact program for 2026 will be published by the municipality of Gnarrenburg in the spring. The structure follows the proven key points of previous years.
