100 Years of the Zetel Fire Brigade

The Zetel Volunteer Fire Brigade is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2026. The Blaulichttag on October 3rd is the central highlight of the anniversary year, aimed at the entire community of Zetel and visitors from the surrounding area. The date, German Unity Day, is a national holiday that gives many families a day off.

Markthamm as the Stage

The Markthamm in the center of Zetel will be transformed into an exhibition and experience area. Emergency vehicles from the Zetel Fire Brigade, from friendly brigades in the Friesland district, as well as from the emergency medical services, DRK (German Red Cross), DLRG (German Life Saving Association), and the police will be on display. Visitors can try on helmets, sit in the vehicles, and ask questions.

Demonstrations and Exercises

Several demonstrations throughout the day will showcase the capabilities of the brigades: simulated traffic accidents with hydraulic rescue equipment, firefighting drills, and first aid demonstrations. Children can try their hand at a children's firefighting drill or participate at the jump cushion station – always under safe supervision.

Catering and Family Program

The Zetel Fire Brigade and its partners will provide food and drinks. Pea soup from the field kitchen, bratwurst, coffee, and cake will be featured. A bouncy castle, games, and a wheel of fortune will round off the family program.

Appreciation of Volunteer Work

More than just an action day, the Blaulichttag is a tribute to volunteer work. For a hundred years, members of the Zetel Volunteer Fire Brigade have ensured fire protection and technical assistance in the community – a commitment that would not be possible without volunteers. The day opens its doors to potential new recruits and seeks to attract young talent.
