From July 2nd to 5th, 2026, Reischach in the Altötting district will become the musical center of Southeast Bavaria: The 29th District Music Festival of the Upper and Lower Bavaria Music Association, Inn-Salzach District, will bring together dozens of brass bands from across the Inn and Salzach valleys for four days of concerts, parades, competitions, and brass music camaraderie. The District Music Festivals of the Upper and Lower Bavaria Music Association (MON) are the annual highlights of the Upper and Lower Bavarian brass music scene. Each of the 21 districts hosts its own district music festival every few years — a mix of competition (competitions in various skill levels), parades of clubs in traditional costume, joint concerts, and a multi-day festival atmosphere. In 2026, Reischach (Altötting district) will host the 29th District Music Festival of the Inn-Salzach District.

The Reischach Music Association

The organizer is the Reischach Music Association, one of the most traditional associations in the Inn-Salzach district. The Reischach musicians will jointly organize the festival weekend with numerous clubs from the district — from small village bands to large city orchestras from Altötting, Burghausen, and Töging.

Program Schedule of a District Music Festival

Thursday: Opening with beer tapping, festival evening with a top regional band or a show band.
Friday: Party night (party band, often with an Upper Bavarian-Tyrolean repertoire).
Saturday: Competitions in the morning and afternoon — participating clubs will play a compulsory and an optional piece in skill categories, judged by a jury. In the evening, a festival gala or dance evening.
Sunday: Festival service, parade of clubs in traditional costume through the town, joint star march, morning pint with brass music, march and polka competition.
