Betzdorfer Karneval – Prunksitzung Gebhardshain

The Prunksitzung of the Männerelferrat in the Westerwälder Hof Gebhardshain is a firmly established event in the carnival calendar of the VG Betzdorf-Gebhardshain. The organizer is the Männerelferrat, which meticulously designs a new session program every year.

Premiere in Gebhardshain after the Merger

With the merger of the Betzdorf and Gebhardshain administrative districts, the carnival landscape of the region has also changed. The 2026 edition is the first Prunksitzung to be celebrated in the Gebhardshain Westerwälder Hof – a deliberate statement by the carnivalists for the newly created administrative district and for the preservation of carnival tradition in both former districts.

Motto: Under the Sea

The motto "Under the Sea" sets the tone for the hall's decoration and the show segments. Decorations, costumes, and individual program items pick up on the theme, transforming the hall into a colorful underwater world. In doing so, the session follows the Rhenish tradition of focusing on a new session motto each year.

Classic Session Dramaturgy

The program follows classic session dramaturgy: entry of the Elferrat (council of eleven), opening by the session president, welcome of the carnival royalty, satirical speeches (Büttenreden), guard and show dances by their own or friendly carnival clubs (KGs), musical contributions, and entertainment segments. Between program items, dance music and catering breaks provide convivial interruptions.

Männerelferrat as Trustee of Tradition

The Männerelferrat sees itself as a trustee of a tradition deeply rooted in the Westerwald. It brings together actors, speakers, and dance groups, organizes setup and dismantling, and ensures that the session takes place in a dignified, professional setting.
