Four days of Palatinate Kerwe tradition with music, fun, and children's program in Beindersheim
The Beindersheim Kerwe is the traditional church consecration festival (Kirchweihfest) of the northern Palatinate municipality of Beindersheim and is one of the classic Palatinate Kerwen that best reflect the essence of village festival culture. For four days – usually from Friday to Monday – the town center transforms into a cozy festival grounds where local clubs set up their stalls and residents celebrate with guests from neighboring communities for a long weekend.
The Beindersheim Kerwe follows the classic rituals of the Palatinate church consecration tradition:
The Beindersheim Kerwe offers a special children's program with games, bouncy castles, face painting, and hands-on activities. This makes the festival consciously family-friendly and appeals to all age groups – from toddlers to grandmothers. This family orientation is a hallmark of smaller Palatinate Kerwen, which focus not primarily on party-goers, but on the community's shared celebration.
Like all Palatinate Kerwen, the Beindersheim Kerwe thrives on the volunteer commitment of local clubs: the fire department, sports club, music club, heritage society, and the Kerweborscht group are responsible for staffing the stalls and organizing the program. The proceeds support youth work, club activities, and social projects in the town.
Since 2018, Beindersheim has belonged to the Lambsheim-Heßheim administrative district, along with Lambsheim and Heßheim. With just under 2,700 inhabitants, it is the smallest of the three municipalities, which shapes the familiar character of its festivals. Its location between Frankenthal and Bad Dürkheim in the northern Rhein-Pfalz district makes Beindersheim a typical residential community in the northern Palatinate, situated in a hotspot for the Palatinate festival calendar.
The 2026 edition continues the decades-old Beindersheim Kerwe tradition. With its family-friendly character and explicit children's program, the Beindersheim Kerwe stands out from the more party-oriented large Kerwen in the region and appeals to the entire village community. Club members, families, and guests from neighboring towns jointly create a weekend full of Palatinate conviviality.
