Overview

The 46th Bayreuth City Festival took place from July 4th to 6th, 2025, in the city centre. 16 stages, around 80 artists, 20 show groups, and over 100 stalls characterised the largest party mile in Upper Franconia. Free admission. The focus of the 2025 edition: the 200th anniversary of Jean Paul's death and the 50th anniversary of the University of Bayreuth.

Bayreuth City Festival 2025

The 46th edition of the Bayreuth City Festival ran from Friday, July 4th, to Sunday, July 6th, 2025, throughout the entire Bayreuth city centre. Over three festival days, around 80 artists performed on 16 stages, 20 show groups complemented the programme, and over 100 stalls provided guests with food and crafts. Free admission, as every year.

Anniversaries 2025

The 2025 edition focused on two Upper Franconian anniversaries: the 200th anniversary of the death of the poet Jean Paul (Jean Paul Friedrich Richter, who died in Bayreuth in 1825) and the 50th anniversary of the University of Bayreuth. Both occasions were dedicated their own programme items and stage content.

Programme

Recurring Programme Structure 2025

  • Friday, July 4th — Opening, live programme on 16 stages from late afternoon
  • Saturday, July 5th — Main festival day with bands in rock, pop, jazz, brass band, electronic, singer-songwriter genres; show groups, dance, walk-acts; until after midnight
  • Sunday, July 6th — Artists' Market in Kanzleistraße as an open-air gallery, festival concludes in the evening
  • Special programme items for Jean Paul (200th anniversary of death) and 50 years of the University of Bayreuth
