Overview

The Bayreuth Bicycle Festival is a new event. An edition in 2025 did not take place – the 1st edition is announced as a premiere for March 29, 2026. Previous bicycle-related activities in Bayreuth were organized by the General German Bicycle Club (ADFC) Bayreuth and initiatives like Critical Mass, but not bundled as a central Bicycle Festival.

In 2025, the Bayreuth Bicycle Festival did not take place in its currently planned form. The format was announced in February 2026 by Tim LINY (LINY Bikes) and the Transitionhaus Bayreuth, filling a gap that many actors in the local mobility and climate protection scene had lamented for years: a central, low-threshold format for everyday cyclists.

While Bayreuth had various bicycle-related activities in 2025 – the monthly Critical Mass, ADFC tours, the Stadtradeln (city cycling campaign) in summer, and individual presentations at the Transitionhaus – there was no central event. The premiere in 2026 closes this gap. Preparations began in autumn 2025 with the search for a suitable venue and the acquisition of exhibitors.
