Overview

The 2025 Peasants' War Spectacle fell in the commemorative year "500 Years of the German Peasants' War" and was therefore a particularly significant date. Mühlhausen — the historical centre of the uprising — celebrated with an enhanced programme of open-air theatre, a medieval market, and combat demonstrations in front of the city wall. A historical peasant procession on May 28th marched through Mühlhausen, further commemorating the events of 1525.

2025 marked the 500th anniversary of the German Peasants' War — and Mühlhausen, the historical centre of the uprising movement, used the anniversary for an expanded event programme. The Peasants' War Spectacle was the central event of this commemorative year, supplemented by special exhibitions, symposia, and a historical peasant procession through the city on May 28th.

The spectacle itself retained its proven concept: open-air theatre on the Kleiner Blobach, medieval market, combat demonstrations, and a child-friendly programme. The city of Mühlhausen recorded a particularly high number of visitors in this anniversary year.
