Overview

The Bartholomäus-Kirchweih 2025 was celebrated from August 22nd to 25th in Pottenstein. Four days of Kerwa tradition in the courtyard of the Mager brewery with specially brewed festival beer, Franconian specialties, Kerwabuam rituals, and the traditional Betzn dance. The patronage festival of Saint Bartholomew attracted visitors from all over Franconian Switzerland, as it does every year.

In 2025, the Kerwa again followed the traditional pattern: digging up the Kerwa on Friday, festival dance on Saturday, patronage church service and "Betzn austanzen" on Sunday, and winding down on Monday with the ritual burying for the next year. The Mager brewery, as every year, brewed a special festival beer just for the Kerwa days.

The Pottensteiner Kerwa is considered one of the most traditional Kirchweihen in Franconia and is one of the fixed highlights of the festival calendar in Franconian Switzerland, alongside Gößweinstein and Behringersmühle.
