Overview

The 15th edition of the Barmstedt Historical and Medieval Market took place in April 2025, once again on the Rantzau Castle Island. With sword fights, traveling minstrels, nobles, and Vikings, the market offered two days of deep immersion into the Middle Ages under the linden trees in front of Rantzau Castle.

Review 2025

The 15th edition of the market in 2025 once again drew thousands of visitors from the Pinneberg district, Hamburg, and Schleswig-Holstein to the castle island. Merchants, craftsmen, and show combat groups set up their stalls under the old linden trees, traveling musicians roamed between the booths with their hurdy-gurdies and shawms. The historical carriage ride and the open castle museum were part of the regular program, as were the suckling pig and mead from the kettle.
