Summer Volksfest on the Lahnufer with Caribbean flair every third Saturday in July
Nassau on the Lahn, with just under 4,600 inhabitants, is one of the most historically significant small towns in the Rhein-Lahn district — the ancestral seat of the House of Nassau, one of the most influential European noble dynasties (with connections to the current Dutch royal house). The town is picturesquely situated in the Lahn valley between Limburg and Koblenz, nestled between wooded hills, with the medieval Nassau Castle on a hill above the town.
The Bahamas Night is one of Nassau's newer, unusual summer festivals and adds a playful accent to the town's medieval-historic identity: for one summer Saturday, the Lahnufer is transformed into a Caribbean island. Sand areas or sandbox islands by the water, palm tree decorations, Caribbean cocktails (Pina Colada, Caipirinha, Mojito), food trucks with BBQ and finger food, possibly beach bars with a Tiki style.
Musically, it's dominated by a mix of Caribbean Sounds, Reggae, Latin Pop, Summer Charts, and Disco Classics — played by DJs or live bands specially hired for the evening. The atmosphere is deliberately relaxed: no concert grandstands, but an open festival area where visitors can move between the dance floor, cocktail bar, and the Lahnufer.
With its date on the 3rd Saturday in July, the Bahamas Night is a firm fixture in Nassau's summer calendar. The event begins in the late afternoon or early evening and runs late into the night. Admission is usually free.
The 2026 festival continues the one-day summer concept: Lahnufer as a Caribbean beach, cocktail bars, food trucks, DJ and live program. The event attracts visitors from the entire Rhein-Lahn region.
The exact program for 2026 (acts, catering partners, decoration) will be published by the organizer in the summer. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years: opening in the late afternoon, gradual shift from family to party mood throughout the evening.
