The Arts and Crafts Market in Nienburg Town Hall is a unique event in the region. Unlike most Christmas markets, it takes place not outdoors, but entirely within the historic town hall of Nienburg. Stalls for artisans are set up on all floors, in the hallways, meeting rooms, and even in the staircases. This creates a unique atmosphere – intimate, protected from weather and cold, with the charm of the historic administrative building.

Handmade Only

Only handmade products are strictly permitted. Industrial mass-produced goods are excluded, distinguishing the market from commercial Christmas markets. The exhibitors come from Lower Saxony, Bremen, and occasionally from neighboring countries, and often present their work at several selected markets per year – the Nienburg market is one of the established dates in their calendar.

Diverse Offerings

The range of products is wide-ranging: jewelry made of silver, gold, natural materials; ceramics for table and decoration; glass in all processing techniques; textiles such as scarves, hats, blankets, felt objects; wood in the form of toys, tableware, home accessories; paper as cards, books, origami; natural cosmetics from manufactories; Christmas tree ornaments in many variations; Christmas decorations made of wood, felt, ceramics, glass.

Date and Opening Hours

The market takes place on the 2nd Advent weekend: Saturday 10:00 AM–6:00 PM, Sunday 12:00 PM–6:00 PM. The opening hours are deliberately family-friendly and allow for a relaxed visit.

Exhibitor Applications

Interested exhibitors can apply by May 31, 2026, to the City of Nienburg/Weser. As spaces are limited and the city reserves the right to a curated selection, early application is recommended. Application forms and conditions are available on nienburg.de.

Unlike the large Christmas markets with mass crowds enjoying mulled wine, the Arts and Crafts Market in the Town Hall is a quiet, contemplative place that invites leisurely browsing and direct conversation with the artists.
