Spring-like arts and crafts market with Mother's Day special at the Mühlenmuseum Gifhorn
While the September market is oriented towards autumn, the May market has a clear spring-festive character. The Mother's Day weekend brings additional visitors: families come for a joint outing, the market offers numerous gift ideas, from plants to jewelry, ceramics, and cosmetic products from small manufacturers. The culinary aspect is also aligned with the spring theme: asparagus, strawberries, young vegetables, and fresh juices are part of the seasonal offerings.
The selection of exhibitors follows a clear qualitative standard. Pottery, woodwork, jewelry, glass art, textiles, leather, felt, stone and metal work, as well as wood carving are among the classic categories. In addition, there are direct marketers from the region offering honey, jams, herbs, plants, cosmetics, and culinary specialties. A conscious limitation to high-quality craft and direct marketer products gives the market its profile.
The International Mühlenmuseum Gifhorn, located on extensive park grounds, is not just an exhibition venue but an integral part of the market experience. Market stalls are spread out among mills from the Netherlands, Russia, Greece, Portugal, and Korea, between farm buildings, workshops, and the wooden church. Mill demonstrations, the bread house with freshly baked bread, and the museum gastronomy complement the offerings.
The market is designed as a family event. Play areas for children, hands-on workshops, demonstrations, and the spacious, child-friendly grounds make visiting the market a day trip for the whole family.
The weekend before Mother's Day transforms the Mühlenmuseum into a lively spring market. Between the mills and farm buildings, around forty to sixty stalls with arts and crafts and direct marketing are spread out. The spring orientation is reflected in the assortment: plants, seasonal products, asparagus and strawberry specialties, fresh juices, and small gift ideas for Mother's Day are in the foreground.
The supporting program is family-friendly. Traditional bread is baked and sold in the bread house, the mills are in operation, and children can explore the extensive grounds. The museum gastronomy provides refreshments for visitors with a spring menu.
