Traditional village festival in the Annweiler district of Bindersbach on the third weekend of August
The Bindersbach Kerwe is the traditional village festival in the Annweiler district of Bindersbach. From August 14 to 17, 2026, the small village on the edge of the Annweiler basin will transform into a Palatinate festival ground with catering, live music, and four days of Kerwe atmosphere.
Bindersbach is one of the three districts of Annweiler (along with Queichhambach and Gräfenhausen) and is located northeast of the town center. The Kerwe is part of the annual festival calendar of Annweiler's districts – the Bindersbach Kerwe in mid-August follows the Bachstelzkerwe Queichhambach (early August) and the Wildsaukerwe Gräfenhausen (early August).
Bindersbach has around 400 inhabitants and has been part of the Annweiler municipal area since the municipal reform. The village is located on the eastern edge of the Annweiler basin, at the transition to the Southern Wine Route. The small village community organizes the Kerwe independently, thus continuing the typical Palatinate village Kerwe tradition, even with its modest population.
The Bindersbach Kerwe follows the classic Palatinate Kerwe choreography: barrel tapping on Friday, dance evening on Saturday, morning pint with brass music on Sunday, and festival finale on Monday. A festival tent, beverage stands, a stage, and food stalls characterize the festival grounds. Palatinate specialties – Saumagen, Bratwurst, Leberknödel, Flammkuchen – complement the gastronomic offerings. Draft beer and wine from Annweiler and Gräfenhausen vintners are served at the beverage stands.
In the evenings, live bands, DJs, and Palatinate dialect music provide the atmosphere. The Kerwe is a meeting point for the residents of Bindersbach and visitors from the Annweiler municipal area. The familiar atmosphere of the small district shapes the festival – a typical Palatinate village festival without tourist pressure.
The districts of Annweiler each maintain their own Kerwe traditions with their own names and dates: Wildsaukerwe in Gräfenhausen (early August), Bachstelzkerwe in Queichhambach (early August), Bindersbach Kerwe (mid-August). This means the Annweiler municipal area offers its own Kerwe every Saturday in August – visitors can combine several Kerwen during a trip to Annweiler.
Classic four-day Kerwe in a small Annweiler district. Familiar atmosphere, Palatinate cuisine, live music. The exact program for 2026 will be published by the organizer in the spring. The structure follows the proven cornerstones of previous years:
