87th Alzeyer Winzerfest

The Alzeyer Winzerfest is one of the most important wine festivals in Rhineland-Palatinate. With the 87th edition in 2026, its tradition dates back to the late 1930s. The venue is the historic old town of Alzey, the 'Volkerstadt', which is transformed into a large wine festival circuit in September.

Three Festival Worlds – One Wine Festival

The festival is divided into three clearly defined areas. In the Winegrowers' Village in the Paeseler-Anlage, Alzey and Rheinhessen winegrowers present themselves in a rustic, rural atmosphere. The Rhenish Village offers conviviality with Rhenish cuisine and live music. The Roßmarkt is the venue for the Free Wine Tasting on Saturday morning and numerous official program points.

Over 100,000 Visitors

Over the five festival days, the wine festival attracts more than 100,000 visitors to the city. This makes it one of the absolute highlights of the Rheinhessen event calendar and a combination of economic factor, tourist magnet, and identity builder.

Representative Wine Tasting and Wine Culture Prize

The Representative Wine Tasting is a social highlight of the festival. Top wines from the region are presented in a festive setting, and the Wine Culture Prize is awarded – an honor that recognizes personalities who have made significant contributions to Rhenish wine culture.

Family Day and Festival Parade

Tuesday is designed as Family Day: reduced prices for rides, hands-on activities, and a child-friendly program characterize the day. A large festival parade with floats, traditional costume groups, and winegrower groups is regularly one of the highlights.
