Alzeyer Johannisnacht

The Alzeyer Johannisnacht is a town festival format that specifically stages the atmosphere of a summer night. The organizers are HSV Alzey and its support association, who, together with numerous clubs, restaurateurs, and vintners, put together a weekend that puts the historic old town of the Volkerstadt at the center.

Historic Old Town as a Festival Stage

The venue is the area between Fischmarkt and Roßmarkt – the historic heart of Alzey with half-timbered houses, cobblestone alleys, and small squares. Several festival islands are created here with stages, catering areas, and wine stands, which are connected by a continuous festival mile.

Light Staging

A characteristic feature of the Johannisnacht is the illumination of the facades. Colorful facade lights and targeted light installations transform the old town into a magical backdrop, which clearly differs from the daytime atmosphere.

Wine, Music, Gastronomy

The focus is on wine, music, and gastronomy. Alzey vintners and vintners from the Alzey-Land association are represented with stands. Several stages with live music – from acoustic sets and cover bands to DJs – ensure a great atmosphere. Snack stands and food trucks offer culinary diversity.

The Johannisnacht attracts several thousand visitors to the old town. This makes it one of the most frequented town festival events in the Volkerstadt. Families, couples, groups of friends, tourists, and returning visitors from Rheinhessen meet in the old town.
