Overview

In 2025, there was no Altstadtfest in Schwerin. After 2024, the traditional city festival took its second consecutive year off. It wasn't until 2026 that the state capital revived the format under the new name Altstadtfete.

The traditional Schwerin Altstadtfest took a break in 2024 and 2025 – no edition was held in either year. This two-year interruption led the state capital to fundamentally rethink the format. The result is the Altstadtfete, a newly conceived city festival that combines the proven formats of Altstadtfest, Stadtfete, and Lichterbummel, and will be organized by the city itself starting in 2026. The premiere of the Altstadtfete thus marks the return of the major city festival to Schwerin's Old Town.
