A World Boys' Choir in the Altmark
The Altmark Festspiele brings international classical and choral music to a region famous for its Romanesque and Gothic brick churches every year. In 2026, the festival runs from May 16 to September 5 — and one of the highlights is the concert by the Regensburger Domspatzen in Salzwedel's Marienkirche on July 11 at 5 PM.
Under the direction of Max Rädlinger, the world-renowned boys' choir will perform its program 'Singfonie' — a journey through German folk songs, in which the audience is actively involved. The most beautiful melodies — 'All meine Gedanken, die ich hab', 'Am Brunnen vor dem Tore', and other classics — will be sung together. Salzwedel is the seat of the Altmark district in the state of Saxony-Anhalt, and the late Gothic Marienkirche with its 80-meter-high tower offers acoustics that are perfect for such programs.
Festival Across the Altmark
The Altmark Festspiele primarily uses the small, often thousand-year-old churches of the Altmark — Tangermünde, Werben, Stendal, Arendsee, Diesdorf, Salzwedel. Those attending the Domspatzen concert can discover a historical program throughout the festival season that is rarely found elsewhere.

Admission and Tickets
Category 1: €40 (sold out), Category 2: €30. Children under 14 accompanied by adults free. Tickets for under 18s: €10. 50% discount for students, trainees, and people with severe disabilities (GdB 80+).
