Albisheim Bahnhofsfest

The Albisheim Bahnhofsfest is the annual village festival on May Day in the Palatinate municipality of Albisheim (Pfrimm) in the Donnersbergkreis. Albisheim belongs to the Göllheim administrative district and is located in the Pfrimmtal valley on the border of the Palatinate and Rhenish Hesse wine-growing regions.

Train Station as Festival Venue

The venue is Albisheim train station with its historic station building. The Worms – Monsheim – Marnheim railway line has had a varied history in passenger transport and is now mainly used for freight traffic and occasionally for special tourist trips. Albisheim station has been preserved as a meeting point and identifying landmark for the community – and it is precisely here that the people of Albisheim celebrate their Bahnhofsfest.

May Day as a Classic Date

In the Palatinate, May 1st is traditionally a day for excursions, hikes, and social gatherings in the great outdoors. Many communities organize May or spring festivals on this day, marking the transition from spring to summer. The Albisheim Bahnhofsfest is part of this tradition and is an ideal stopover for hikers and cyclists.

Club Life and Program

Local clubs are responsible for catering. Traditionally, there are grilled sausages and other hearty dishes, coffee and cake, Palatinate wine, and draft beer. Live music or a brass band provides the musical accompaniment; children's activities are also part of the program. The festival has a familiar, village character and is aimed at the local population as well as visitors from the region.
