A walking wine tasting through the vineyards of Ahrweiler
The AhrWeinWalk is one of the newest gourmet formats in the Ahr Valley and has quickly become a firm fixture for wine and hiking enthusiasts from the Rhineland. Over the extended weekend around Ascension Day, a marked circular route leads through the vineyards surrounding the distinctive Sankt-Urban Chapel above Ahrweiler. Over approximately six kilometers, several wine stands from the Ahrweiler Vintners' Cooperative and friendly producers await the hikers.
The route is a closed circuit and can be walked in either direction. It leads over farm tracks and vineyard paths through some of Ahrweiler's best-known sites, past greywacke dry-stone walls, and offers impressive views over the Ahr Valley. At the stands, vintners serve Pinot Noir, Frühburgunder, Pinot Blanc, and sparkling wine; at refreshment stations, Flammkuchen, vintner's platters, cheese, and small desserts are served. The wine stands are open daily from 11 AM to 6 PM.
For those who don't want to go home after the tour, the AfterWalkLounge at Ahrweiler Markt station awaits. It remains open until 10 PM and provides a relaxed conclusion with music, further tastings, and gastronomy. The station also serves as the central starting point for the hike and is easily accessible from Bonn and Remagen via the Ahrtalbahn railway.
The AhrWeinWalk can easily be combined with a multi-day stay in the Ahr Valley. Overnight stays in Ahrweiler, Bad Neuenahr, or the surrounding wine villages can be combined with the Walk through bookable experience packages from Ahrtal-Tourismus. Those who want to enjoy the full experience should plan a weekend and also discover the old town of Ahrweiler, the Red Wine Hiking Trail, or Are Castle.
The event combines a sporty hike through the Ahrweiler vineyards with tastings directly on site. The circular route can be walked in both directions, which helps to avoid congestion at the stands.
After the hike, the AfterWalkLounge at Ahrweiler Markt station invites you to linger. Here, the hiking day ends relaxedly with further tastings, regional cuisine, and live music.
The exact stage and stand concept for 2026 will be communicated by the organizer in advance. It follows the proven structure of previous years.
